1. General Terms of Use

• 1.1. Application Purpose: MojiQ is specifically intended for users who wish to test and expand their Japanese vocabulary knowledge through daily word-guessing challenges (Word Puzzles) across different script systems (Hiragana, Romaji, Katakana).
• 1.2. Lawful Use: The application must only be used for personal learning and non-commercial purposes. Usage for illegal activities, violating the law, or abusing the system is strictly prohibited.
• 1.3. User Responsibility: You are fully responsible for all activities conducted under your account and any content you may generate or share (e.g., puzzle results screenshots).

2. Data Storage and Management

• 2.1. Data Collection: We collect data necessary to support application functions and personalize your experience. Data collected includes, but is not limited to: name, email, User ID (for Firebase Authentication), and specific application activity data such as:

  • Daily Puzzle Progress and Status
  • Guess and Puzzle History
  • User streaks and statistics
  • Preferred app language setting
  • And any other data reasonably required for the operation and security of the application.

• 2.2. Data Security: We are committed to maintaining the confidentiality and security of user data. Data is protected with industry-standard encryption protocols during transmission.

• 2.3. Data Infrastructure: The application utilizes NeonDB (PostgreSQL) for relational data storage and Firebase Authentication for user login management.

• 2.4. Third Parties: User data may be shared with trusted third-party service providers for the following purposes:

  • Application Functionality: Ensuring features like authentication (Firebase Auth), database services (NeonDB), and daily notifications (FCM) operate correctly.
  • Analytics: Analyzing usage patterns to improve the UI/UX and game effectiveness.
  • Advertising: Displaying relevant advertisements for monetization.
  • Security: Detecting and preventing unauthorized access.
  • Other necessary operational purposes.

  These third parties are required to comply with relevant privacy policies and maintain data confidentiality.

3. Content and Sources

• 3.1. Word Puzzle Content: The Japanese words used in the daily puzzles, including their Kanji, readings (Hiragana/Romaji/Katakana), meaning, and context descriptions, are sourced from or curated based on reliable Japanese dictionary resources.
• 3.2. Content Guarantee Limitation: While we strive to ensure that all vocabulary definitions and readings are accurate and relevant, we do not provide any guarantee of the absolute truth or completeness of such content. Users are advised to always verify information using external academic resources if necessary.
• 3.3. Text-to-Speech (TTS): The TTS function is provided by a third-party service to assist in pronunciation. We are not responsible for errors or inaccuracies in the speech generation process.
• 3.4. Data Acknowledgement: The vocabulary data used for generating daily word puzzles and validating user guesses is sourced from, and built upon, the following open-source projects:
  • Japanese Vocabulary: Adapted from the open-anki-jlpt-decks project.
  • Dictionary/Verification: Based on dictionary data derived from the jmdict-yomitan project.

4. Payment and Subscription

• 4.1. Premium Subscription: MojiQ offers a Premium subscription service for 2.49 USD per month (or equivalent in your local currency; prices may vary by country due to local taxes, exchange rates, or our custom pricing decisions).
• 4.2. Pricing Adjustments: We reserve the right to adjust the price of the Premium subscription at any time. Any price changes will take effect at the start of the next subscription period following notice of the change.
• 4.3. Premium Features: Subscribers receive exclusive access to:
  • Unlock Unlimited Hints: Get help on puzzles without restrictions.
  • Play Past Puzzles: Access the archive of previous daily challenges.
  • No Ads: A completely ad-free learning experience.
  • Multiple Puzzles per Day: The ability to play more than one puzzle daily, including access to multiple JLPT levels.
• 4.4. Free Tier Limitations: Users on the free tier can still enjoy basic features and limited access to certain premium elements, subject to daily caps or advertising requirements.
